Jones Beach
JONES BEACH
Hands Down the best beginner beach to learn how to kiteboard in all of Oregon. 3/4 mile wide open sandy beach free of debri and crowds. Has friendly currents, perfect winds that are consistent like a hair dryer and lots of room to play around.
Food: In the town of Clatskanie Oregon 6 miles from Jones Beach you have wonderful food. Mexican, Pub, classic dinner and Fultano's Pizza. Everything from fish and chips, hamburgers, sandwiches and the best crispy crust pizza EVER!
Camping: There are a few other campgrounds with 10-20 minutes of Jones from paid to free. But as of this year 2014, Camping is NOT Allowed at Jones Beach.
Winds: Best wind direction is WNW wind but works with E, NW, and SW winds. Season runs from 1st of April to mid September with the peak months being June thru August. July is the best with high winds and warm temps. Wind Sensor available at www.ikitesurf.com for a FEE but worth it if you want to kite Jones, though you really don't need it in July and August because the wind blows every single day.
