Here are some Kiteboarding Events and Competitions
Kiteboarding 4 Cancer event
Kiteboarding 4 Cancer and SUP 4 Cancer are just 3 months away, the weekend of July 9-11 and Athlete registration and fundraising for both events is OPEN! Steve Fisher, one of our many survivors kicking cancer ass to race in this year's event, is already well ahead of you, so I would get on it!
Team Registration is now LIVE!! Here are the Team Rules:
> Teams must be made up of 4 people, with a Team captain and a special Team Name.
> Teams cost $250 to register or a minimum of $500 in raised Team donations.
> The Team event will run Relay-style: Team rider #1 races individually for as many laps as they want > rider comes in, hands off the "baton" to Team rider #2 > Rider #2 rides for 'x' amount of laps > rider comes in, hands off "baton" to #3... and so forth, until ALL 4 TEAM RIDERS HAVE RIDDEN. Last team rider finishes the race by bringing the "baton" to the Race Director.
> There is no gender minimum requirement for Teams!
> There will be a prize for "Best Dressed" Team!
July 9 : KB4C & SUP4C Kickoff Day
The event site will be open to ALL: Kiteboarders, paddlesurfers, and windsurfers, so play nice! We have the event site to set up for the weekend's events, so please keep in mind that tents, fencing, tables, and stages will be going up all around you. Here's what else is happening Friday evening:
> Volunteer Check-in
> Athlete Registration
> Athlete Fuel Feast Dinner
> KB4C Kickoff Party w/Tony Smiley, location TBD (if you don't know Tony Smiley, check him out on MySpace-- the one man loop ninja is a dance machine masta and one of the most entertaining musical acts around!)
July 10 : Kiteboard 4 Cancer - Register/Fundraise for Kiteboard 4 Cancer here! Saturday, July 10th, with a backup day for wind -- July 11th. A confirmation of event dates will be announced on the blog, the website, NWKite, and via email to all competitors by July 8th.
Year 4 everyone!! Again, we will have the 6-hour Endurance Race, live music, the Full Sail Brew Garden, Children's Healing Art Project lounge, raffle, silent and live auction!
July 11 : SUP Paddle 4 Cancer - Register/Fundraise for SUP 4 Cancer here! Sunday, July 11th, unless KB4C is pushed back to the 11th for wind, in which case SUP4C will run on July 10th. A confirmation of event dates will be announced on the blog, the website, NWKite, and via email to all competitors by July 8th.
Due to the feedback and popularity from last year, we have designated a separate day for the Standup Paddle (SUP) Races, which will the calmer of the two forecasted days. We are still deciding the SUP endurance race route, but it's possible it will be a long downwinder from Viento. Other "activities" at SUP 4 Cancer:
KB4C Call for Art for city wide Art Show!! May 28-July 11
This is a huge part of our fundraiser this year, so artists -- listen up! It's a month-long city-wide art show in Hood River, featuring artists depicting the theme "The Healing Power of Wind & Water". For more information, check it out here. A couple important bits of information for everyone on both the events....
> Registration is $50 and gives you entry into one or all KB4C & SUP4C events. Clarification if anyone is confused:Participation into each day of events, KB4C or SUP, are $50 each and you can participation in one or all of the event within that day. So, if you want to do all the SUP events only, it's $50. If you want to do both the SUP and Kite events, it's $50 each, so $100. You can also raise a minimum of $100 per day of events to gain you entry into the events.
> All 2009 athletes who already have a profile on the KB4C.org website, have had their fundraising numbers refreshed to zero on the site so you don't have to recreate your profile. That way you can simply edit your old profile.
> This year's beneficiaries include John Wayne Cancer Foundation, The Next Door's Inc. (Hood River) Breast Cancer Prevention & Detection program, Children's Healing Art Project, Child Life @ Children's Hospital Seattle, and KB4C's Survivorship Camps!! It is possible that we may add to this list, so get the latest updates on the blog.
> I am looking for enthusiastic volunteers for all three days! And desperately need help with the silent auction and procuring items! Feel good about doing something great and have fun doing it! Fill out a volunteer application here or email Tonia@kb4c.org.
Am I missing anything?
Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm, participation, and support of this event each year!
11th Annual Bridge of the Gods Kiteboarding Festival
June 18 - 19, 2010
East Point - Stevenson, Washington
Longest running Amateur Kiteboarding Event in North America
Sponsor Solicitation
The Bridge of The Gods Kiteboarding Festival is seeking advertisements, sponsors and gear donations for this year’s event, June 18th and 19th, in Stevenson, Washington. BOTG is the longest running amateur kiteboarding event in North America and has been the springboard for launching many amateurs into the ranks of the pro’s. Hosted each year at East Point in Stevenson this event provides excellent spectator viewing and photo opportunities, drawing participants and spectators from all across the US, Canada, and Mexico.
The festival has events for:
• Groms (10 and under)
• Juniors (11 to 16)
• Men
• Women
• Masters (40+)
• Past BOTG Winners / Pro / Semi-Pro / Team Riders (Friday afternoon)
• Photo / Video Contents
• SUP Racing (if no wind)
There is a beer garden, food and drink vendors, and open lawn seating. There is also a group campout and pot luck planned for the out of town folks at the Skamania County Fairgrounds.
To be direct and to the point: We need your help to make this event a success. In past years the event has been primarily funded, staffed and sponsored by Slingshot Sports but due to a number of reasons they need to dial back their level of participation. As this is an Amateur event open to all riders and all brands we are actively approaching each of the major manufacturers, local shops and schools, and other vendors in order to increase participation and prevent one brand from having to carry the entire load. We would much rather receive $500 each from 7 or 8 vendors than try to get one vendor to contribute $4,000.
What we are requesting:
• Gold Level Sponsorship - $500 or equivalent value of gear (kites, or boards, or harness, or bar, etc…) for the winners prize pool
o Name Listed on the website
o Name prominently displayed on the Sponsor Board
o Name announced at least 4 times per hour
o Free entry for one Pro / Team Rider
o Banana flags or banners displayed along the walkway
• Silver Level Sponsorship - $250 or equivalent value of gear gear (kites, or boards, or harness, or bar, etc…) for the winners prize pool
o Name Listed on the website
